ST. LOUIS (Nov. 11, 2020) – The holiday season is a magical time in St. Louis, and this year is no exception. The Christmas in St. Louis (CISL) Board recognizes the need to be safe amid the COVID-19 risk. Several community events lined up for this season have been modified to address that need. We look forward continuing the spirit, celebration, and magic of the season and a return to our traditional events in 2021.
The Ameren Thanksgiving Day Parade will not be held in person this year and we plan to return in 2021, but the celebration will go on.
With the help of our sponsors and creative teams, an hour-long telecast on our sponsor station, KMOV, will air at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. We hope you, your friends and families will join us for the Ameren Thanksgiving Day Celebration as we shine a Light on regional attractions and important charitable efforts, and bring you some of the traditional parade entertainment you have enjoyed with us over the years. Additional viewing options will be announced in the coming days.
“It’s our desire to help keep all of our patrons, volunteers, and their families safe and happy as we face unprecedented challenges which prevent us from convening in person on Market Street on Thanksgiving Day, as we have for almost 40 years,” said CISL Board Chairman Jeffrey Wright.
“The Ameren Thanksgiving Day Parade in downtown St. Louis has provided special memories for families from Missouri and Illinois, and Ameren has been proud to sponsor and help support this event for over 30 years,” said Warner Baxter, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ameren Corporation. “All of us at Ameren are committed to keeping this Thanksgiving Day morning tradition alive by sponsoring KMOV’s broadcast of the Ameren Thanksgiving Day Celebration at 9 a.m. on Nov. 26. We hope you and your family will join us as we celebrate the very best of the St. Louis region and help ring in the holiday season.”
A modified Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights will proceed with a spectacular holiday light projection show displayed on the Kiener garage. Debuting on Nov. 20, 2020 at 5:30 p.m., it will run through the holiday season on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-9 p.m. Building on the spectacular animation from 2019, CISL is adding a salute segment to St. Louis’ own essential and frontline workers. Free and open to all, CISL is encouraging families to add this show to their annual holiday lights tour. See our website for more details on show times.
Additional information will be announced in the coming days.
