St. Louis – Tuesday, November 17 –Ameren Festival of Lights will be taking place this Saturday at St. Louis Union Station, ushering in the holiday season with a host of live entertainment, lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights and a festive fireworks finale.

Ameren Festival of Lights, coordinated by Christmas in St. Louis, has signified the unofficial start to the holiday season in St. Louis for many years. This year, event partners invite the Downtown community to join in lighting up the neighborhood, in conjunction with the Festival of Lights activities.

Downtown STL, Inc. has asked the community to plan to turn on their holiday lights after 6:30 pm on Saturday, November 21, to create a spectacular display of lights and unity in Downtown St. Louis.

In addition to an impressive outdoor display of lights, the Grand Hall at Union Station will feature a host of holiday festivities for Saturday’s Festival of Lights. Mrs. Claus will be serving children hot chocolate and cookies, and dignitaries will be on-hand to announce the winners of the holiday coloring and essay competition.

Outside Union Station in Aloe Plaza, holiday revelers will enjoy food truck concessions, music, live reindeer, and horse drawn carriage rides before the official lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights and fireworks at 6:30 pm.
